With her rich voice and her legendary status in Dallas, Dave Zoller built a band around her to perform Bossa Nova, the great Brazilian music that emerged from Samba and was energized by North American jazz musicians like Stan Getz and Dizzy Gillespie. The band, RIO!, can be heard in many North Texas jazz spots.
In addition to her talents as a vocalist, Nina plays guitar and percussion. Her voice over credits include being the voice of Nortel Networks® for South America, and this month she has been recording jingles for a Brazilian radio station.
Dave Zoller will accompany Nina on her first set. Zoller is a legend, having led one of the major "jingle shops" when Dallas was a center for the commercial music industry. A former pianist for Al Hirt, Dave knows music inside/out and is an encyclopedia of jazz.. Dave was honored by Sammons Center for the Arts as the Artist of the Year in 2010.
Jason Bucklin, the most recorded guitarist in Dallas, will accompany Nina on her second set. Jason is a guitarist with the chops of a jazz musician and the eloquence of a classical guitarist.
Sammons Cabaret brings together consummate professional artists for an intimate, romantic evening of musical cabaret. Reservations (required) are available by calling 214-520-7789.
