Austin Piazzolla Quintet has been stunning audiences in Austin and beyond since late 2009. Specializing in the intense and passionate music of the great Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, APQ continues the Nuevo Tango tradition with creative interpretations and breath taking original compositions. APQ's first album "Libertango" has been called "Tango at its best" and "sublime." APQ has been featured on jazz radio stations and local NPR affiliates across the country, has headlined some of the world's best jazz clubs, and has sold out concert halls. Featuring some of the best talent on the Austin music scene, APQ's diverse and educated musicians have over 50 years of combined experience, come from backgrounds ranging from classical music to jazz to South American folk music, and hold music degrees from some of the world's most prestigious music schools.
