Maria is a vocalist, recording artist, performer and band leader. A regular performer at The Toronto Dominion Vancouver International Jazz Festival and The Cellar Jazz Club, and an appearance at The 2010 Winter Olympics, Maria has recorded with Richie Cole, Warren Vaché, George Robert, Krishna Booker and Phil Dwyer. Her début album Where or When consists of 13 songs, which are receiving airplay on The Penthouse Radio in New York. “Just a Touch” was chosen as bumper music on Coast to Coast AM. Songs from the début album were also featured on WAMC/Northeast Public Radio, CBC Radio across Canada, DR P1 and DR P8 Jazz in Denmark. The album is also featured Saturday mornings on KUVO in Denver.
From nearly 2,000 artists, “Where or When” was selected for Amazon MP3 U.S. – the TuneCore artist compilation The Power of Independence: Volume 2, and “Little Boat/Day By Day” was included in Valentine’s 2013: Volume 2. In March, and again in May 2014, she was chosen as one of the top five vocalists in the “Best Vocalist of The Month” Competition, SingerUniverse, Los Angeles.
Some of her favorite composers and lyricists include Rodgers & Hart, the Gershwins, Johnny Mercer, Henry Mancini and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Maria is drawn to these beautiful, timeless melodies and lyrics that are witty, intelligent, poetic, and written by some of the greatest composers of our time.
