Parallel to his performance career is his involvement in the music education community and specifically the jazz education scene. Alec studied music at Denver School of the Arts and was in the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts program. During his time in these programs, he has played with and learned from such greats as Paul Romaine, Dave Liebman, Eric Gunnison, Greg Gisbert, Greg Osby, Brad Goode, Terrell Stafford, Ron Miles, Shane Endsley, Mark Simon, and others. Alec studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with professors and artists that included Warren Wolf, Matt Brewer, David Sanchez, Mike Rodriguez, Jason Morgan, Carl Allen, Matt Wilson, and Edward Simon. Now back in Denver, Alec has been collaborating, producing, and freelancing with various groups including Splifftet and fellow producer NO-FVCE. Alec has released solo projects under the name BLKLNGS, the first of which was featured in Okayplayer magazine, as well as a live album with Splifftet.
