Kori Jones is a young woman from Woodbridge, Virginia, currently in Denver, Colorado furthering her undergraduate education in Jazz and Commercial Music with an emphasis in Voice at the University of Denver. Anyone could describe Jones as driven, focused, and determined. Jones started taking vocal lessons in 2018 with her vocal coach, Jenalle Allen. Kori Jones is a young woman from Woodbridge, Virginia, currently in Denver, Colorado furthering her undergraduate education in Jazz and Commercial Music with an emphasis in Voice at the University of Denver. Anyone could describe Jones as driven, focused, and determined. Jones started taking vocal lessons in 2018 with her vocal coach, Jenalle Allen. They worked primarily on building a solid foundation in tonality, breath support, and intonation so Jones could build off of those techniques and become versatile in several genres, specifically Musical Theater and Classical. Allen was able to develop a solid foundation that advanced her to continue her music education at the Lamont School of Music. Jones was originally a Classical Voice major, but with the help and approval of her professors, she changed to Jazz and Commercial. Now studying with Prof. Tatiana Brown, Jones has broadened her musicality into Jazz, which has been a learning process of new techniques, but Jones has been grasping these techniques with eagerness and has enjoyed the process. Now a sophomore, Jones has also joined a band, Assistance, a Funk/R&B band, as the lead singer. Their band has been able to release a single called “Like Minded” that Jones wrote lyrics and sang on. Jones has built a foundation of leading a band and writing original lyrics has also helped her build new traits in music and has helped her stay well rounded in her solo and ensemble life.
