Mesquitic currently teaches at the University of Wyoming as Lecturer in Jazz Piano where he also maintains a schedule performing with his trio, adjudicating, and commissioning music throughout the globe. Mesquitic is currently earning his Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Austin where he was recently awarded the 2022 Eleanor Alexander Stripling Award for Excellence in Jazz Studies. As bandleader, David released his first trio album in the summer of 2019 titled “Preamble” and soon to release his second album as bandleader in the Spring 2024. David remains active performing, touring, and arranging as leader of his trio, big band, and working sideman in both jazz and commercial based projects. Mesquitic has had the privilege to study with luminaries Andy LaVerne, Gerald Clayton, Tamir Hendelman, Steven Feifke, and Benny Green. Mesquitic has also had the privilege of sharing the stage and/or recording with Postmodern Jukebox, Jeff Hamilton, Aubrey Logan, Steven Feifke, Benny Benack III, Carmen Bradford, Tony, Glausi, Clark Sommers, Andre Hayward, James Morrison, Chad L.B., Alex Frank, Joe Peri, Micheal Sailors, and Christian Wiggs.https://www.davidmesquitic.com
