Originally from the Chicago area, Greg Garrison now calls the foothills southwest of Denver home. Perhaps best known as the original bassist and a founding member of the genre-bending bluegrass/chamber music band Punch Brothers (his contributions to Punch Brothers as both a performer and a composer and be heard on the band’s first release, the critically acclaimed Nonesuch release “Punch”) as well as for his work with Colorado bluegrass/rock band Leftover Salmon, Mr. Garrison has also performed and recorded with Grammy award winners Chris Thile and Bryan Sutton, Juno award winning banjoist Jayme Stone, and Ron Miles. He has also been an active performer in the Denver area jazz scene for many years, and has worked as a sideman with John Scofield, Art Lande, and Fred Hess. Through his experiences with Punch Brothers and Leftover Salmon, Mr. Garrison has worked with a host of luminaries from the bluegrass and rock worlds, having performed or recorded with, among others, Vassar Clements, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Little Feat, Cracker, Peter Rowan, Moby, Nellie McKay, Del McCoury, Tim O’Brien, and Victor Wooten....
