Greg has a great interest in the West African Xylophone called the Gyil (pronounced JEE-lee), the national instrument of the Lobi and Dagara people of Ghana, Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire, West Africa. He has performed with Baaba Maal, Aaron Bebe Sukura, SK Kakraba, as the musical director for Prudence Mabhena from Zimbabwe, and also does regular fundraising performances for the Whole Planet Foundation. He also plays an assortment of Frame Drums from around the world, exploring the Bodhran of Ireland and the Doyra of Uzbekistan.
He received an M.M. in Music Performance, Percussion at the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Music Education and Music Performance Bachelor of Arts degree from Fort Lewis College. Greg is a private instructor, high school teacher, and freelance musician in the Denver/Boulder area and has performed nationally and internationally. Greg teaches Ethnomusicology, music theory, and as a Practicing Artist at the Denver School of the Arts.

Venus Cruz is the first lady of Future Jazz Project, a collective including Greg Tanner Harris, Dameion Hines, Charles Parker Mertens, MC House and many others. She has opened for artists such as Black Thought of The Roots, Goapele, Al Green, Guru, even Bishop Desmond Tutu, to name a few. Venus is featured on 2 recent acclaimed albums: Greg Harris Vibe Quintet's 'Glass Gold' and Matt Fuller Group's 'Waiting for Violet.'
In 2012, Cruz won Westword's Best R&B Vocalist Award. She also is the host/DJ for "Jazz Odyssey" every Wednesday on KUVO.org 89.3FM, 10p-12a. Improvisation, a soulful delivery and an ability to transcend genres are always part of Cruz' musical approach.
