Flutist, saxophonist, and composer Joe Anderies has been active in the Denver jazz scene for the past 35 years. Parallel to his performance career is his involvement in the music education community and specifically the jazz education scene. He has pioneered an extensive jazz mentoring network to foster young musicians in elementary and middle schools. Currently he is teaching band and orchestra at Rocky Heights Middle School in Douglas County. Regarding the upcoming Joe Anderies / David Pearl Reunion Concert he says “I was fortunate in my early music career to have spent time performing music with David when he was a student at DU. Over the years our career paths have gone different directions but we have maintained a deep and ongoing friendship and dialogue. I am very excited to finally have David back to his musical starting ground for the opportunity to again create some meaningful and explosive music along with my son Trevor (drum set) and the wonderful Bijoux Barbosa on bass”....

Pianist, composer, arranger, and author David Pearl has performed throughout the United States, in Canada, Russia and Japan. He was awarded grants from the
New York State Council on the Arts to perform solo piano recitals featuring composers of Latin America. His recent CD, Scythian Suite, is a collection of piano four-hands music recorded with his wife, Rubi Miyachi. He has performed in many of New York’s premiere venues (Rainbow Room, Café Sabarsky, Joe’s Pub, Symphony Space) and collaborates frequently with musicians in the jazz, classical and cabaret community. He plays every Monday night at Bar Thalia in New York City, for Singers Space, which he established in 2011.
The author of Piano Exercises For Dummies, The Art of Billy Strayhorn, The Art of Steely Dan, and Color Your Chords, David Pearl arranged The Jazz Piano Collection, twenty-two jazz standards for solo piano, and Most Beautiful Opera Arias for piano, along with numerous other books of jazz and classical pieces published by Cherry Lane Music and The Music Sales Corporation. His other books include jazz transcriptions of the artists Grover Washington, Jr., Dave Douglas, Roland Hanna and Wynton Marsalis. He also developed and recorded a series of piano lessons for the online music education website WorkshopLive. Born in Denver, Colorado, he graduated from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
