Two local stars bring the history of The Carr Center to life in an immersive musical experience that spans 120 years of Detroit arts and culture. Violinist Kimberly Kaloyanides Kennedy traces the building’s German roots with the celebrated Brahm’s Violin Sonata No. 3. Then, jazz pianist Alvin Waddles carries the work through the ages by reimagining it in some of the popular musical styles of decades past, including ragtime, stride and blues. Gershwin will round out this eclectic program, which features an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Center’s newly-remodeled theatre — the oldest existing performance space in Detroit!
