2023 Rising Star Jazz Vocal Competition at Aretha’s Jazz Café, 350 Madison Street, Detroit MI, on May 21st at 7 pm. Five finalists will compete before a live audience for the chance to open for Ramona Collins at the 2023 Michigan Jazz Festival. The finalists are Melody Balos, Taylor Sims, Christopher Kendall, Kait Wiegand, and Aniya Gray. Ramona will be the host and the vocalists will be accompanied by the Scott Gwinnell Trio with Scott on piano, Takashi Iio on bass and Jeff Trudell on drums. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the concert. Cabaret seating tickets are $30 and are available at www.Eventbrite.com.
