Kenny Nelson began his performing career on the stage of a church in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and working in recording studios as a session/background singer (Glee, The Glee Project). While building relationships within the music community he was encouraged to begin writing his own material, and spent the next few years developing a catalog of songs representing the full range of life experiences. During this time he also established himself as a performer, playing live shows as an opener for various touring acts (Jordan Knight, Cris Cab, The Beach Boys). From this catalog came his first solo EP, Kenny Nelson, Vol. I, and three additional singles. During the recording process for his follow-up project Kenny suffered a stroke, leaving him paralyzed and unable to speak or sing. More than three years spent on regaining the use of his voice resulted in a newfound determination to sing from an unfiltered place of candor.
