Danielle Wertz Duo at The Jazz Station

Danielle Wertz, recent graduate from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, is an award-winning vocalist from Falls Church, Virginia. Barely out of school, Danielle has already gained national recognition as one of this generation’s leading voices in jazz. She was recently named one of eleven semi-finalists in the 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocals Competition. She was also the inaugural winner of the Washington Women in Jazz Festival Young Artist Contest, and is a recipient of several other accolades including a 2015 DownBeat Award.

Jake Shapiro, an accomplished pianist and organist, has been performing since age seven. Native to Chicago, he studied with Laura Hoffman and Jim Trompeter, two of the city's premier pianists. Jake attended the University of Miami and studied with jazz greats such as Shelly Berg, Martin Bejerano, and Brian Lynch while completing his Master's Degree in Jazz Piano Performance under full scholarship.
