KENNY REED
It's hard to say enough about Kenny, who came up in New York where he played with many household names in jazz. He's been a fixture of the Eugene jazz scene for years, where he plays with enthusiasm and mentors the next generation of players and listeners.
JACK NIEDERMAN
Jack is a native of Eugene. He attended Lane Community College. A veteran bassist, he has played with many prominent local musicians, including Paul Biondi. He is currently a member of Kenny Reed's Stone Cold Jazz, and has been working with saxophonist Ben Crandall's ongoing project. He is also a longtime fixture of the Jazz Station Sunday jams band.
NEIL JANSSEN
Of Neil Janssen's playing, it has been said "With a nod toward Howard Roberts's playing, Neil Janssen glides around the guitar neck with melodic ease. He doesn't play fast. He doesn't play with flash. He doesn't need to. He searches instead for mood, seeking a smooth and rhythmic jazz groove that lets the creativity of his phrasing take the place of showy pyrotechnics." (Fresh Cup Magazine)
FUMI FUNAHASHI
Fumi is a soil scientist living in Corvallis, and a recent addition to Kenny's Stone Cold Jazz. Fumi is a master of subtle tonal gradations. As amazing as it seems, he is entirely self-taught.
BEN CRANDALL
Benjamin Crandall is a computer programmer, gift economy organizer, musician, and martial artist. He founded CommonGoods Network, an Oregon 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and co-authored the Kindista social network for local resource sharing. He has also been studying Yang Michuan T'ai Chi Ch'uan since 2001 and teaching the martial art since 2004 in Washington, DC and in Eugene.
He has a degree in Jazz Saxophone from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music and can occasionally be heard playing sets of his original music in Eugene, OR. He has played in a variety of bands on both the East and West Coasts, including JohnStone, the Mighty Heard, Disco Organica, and Stone Cold Jazz.
