The new trio, formed in 2023, with bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Markku Ounaskari, marks a return to the traditional trio lineup for the maestro.

Kysytylle muusikolle on riittänyt hommia myös kaiken muun mahdollisen ja mahdottoman musiikkia saralla rockista barokkiin; Kantonen halusi jo nuorena musiikinopiskelijana hallita kaiken varalta kaikki genret, ja vielä omaan tyyliinsä. Palkittua ja omaperäistä taituria on kuultu noin 200 albumilla, mm. Pekka Pohjolan, Eero Koivistoisen ja Otto Donnerin kokoonpanoissa. Viime vuosina Kantonen on profiloitunut enemmän säveltäjänä.
Vuonna 2023 perustettu uusi trio basisti Antti Lötjösen ja rumpali Markku Ounaskarin kanssa merkitsee maestrolle paluuta perinteisen triokokoonpanon pariin.
