Seitsenhenkinen The Watercolors maalailee elegantteja jazz-akvarelleja. Kokoonpanon jousien ja oben rikastamasta sointupaletista löytyy niin länsimaisen taidemusiikin kuin eurooppalaisen nykyjazzinkin vaihtuvia sävyjä.
Vuonna 2018 perustettu The Watercolors on puupuhaltaja Janne Saarisen sävellyksiä tulkitseva septetti, jonka uniikissa kokoonpanossa soivat oboe, viulu, alttoviulu, sello, vibrafoni, kontrabasso ja rummut. Yhtyeen melodisessa musiikissa yhdistyy spontaani improvisointi, rikkaat harmoniat ja svengaavat rytmit sekä toisaalta taidemusiikista tutut kuulaat sointivärit.
The Watercolors julkaisi nimeään kantavan debyyttilevyn vuonna 2021. Juuri julkaistun La grande odyssée -albumin myötä The Watercolors jatkaa vahvaa ja raikasta musiikillista tutkimusmatkaansa.
