Josefiina Vannesluoma & Mortal Lease, who released their debut album in 2023 and received an Emma nomination, will embark on a Jazz Federation tour from November 1 to 8, 2024. Drawing inspiration from Edith Wharton’s poetry series, the band will kick off the tour with a grand performance at the Tampere Jazz Happening festival on November 1, followed by concerts in Vaasa, Savonlinna, Joensuu, and Porvoo.

Jazz – heard and seen!
Finnish Jazz Federation’s essential form of operation is national touring. The annual touring activities enable approximately 100 concerts in 40 different locations all over Finland. The concerts mainly take place in their member organizations. Tours include both in-house productions and collaborations with external producers.

Vuonna 2023 debyyttialbuminsa julkaissut ja sillä Emma-ehdokkuuden saanut Josefiina Vannesluoma & Mortal Lease suuntaa Jazzliiton kiertueelle 1.–8.11.2024. Edith Whartonin runosarjasta ammentava yhtye aloittaa kiertueensa näyttävästi Tampere Jazz Happening -festivaaleilla 1.11., jonka jälkeen kokoonpanoa kuullaan Vaasassa, Savonlinnassa, Joensuussa ja Porvoossa.
Jazzlaulaja ja säveltäjä Josefiina Vannesluoman ja hänen Mortal Lease -yhtyeensä musiikissa satavuotiaat runot muuntautuvat aistikkaaksi jazzilmaisuksi. Jazz-Emma-ehdokkuudella noteerattu debyyttialbumi The Mortal Lease on nyanssirikas kokonaisuus, jonka tunnelmat vaihtelevat hurmiollisista purkauksista hillittyyn eleganssiin. Vaikutteet eri musiikkityyleistä sulautuvat luontevasti osaksi jazzyhtyeen juurevaa tarinankerrontaa. Albumin inspiraationa ja tekstien lähteenä toimii Edith Whartonin (1862–1937) runosarja The Mortal Lease, suomeksi vapaasti käännettynä “Kuolevaisuuden sopimus”. Sonettimuotoon kirjoitetut koristeelliset runot kertovat hurmiosta, elämännälästä ja merkityksellisyyden etsimisestä.

Valtakunnallinen kiertuetoiminta on Suomen Jazzliiton keskeinen toimintamuoto kotimaassa. Kiertueiden puitteissa järjestetään vuosittain noin 100 konserttia keskimäärin 40 eri paikkakunnalla. Tuotantoon lukeutuu omatuotantoisia kiertueita sekä ulkopuolisten tuottajien kanssa yhteistyössä tuotettuja kiertueita.
