The Stance Brothers alkoi kuvitteellisena yhtyeenä, joka antoi Teppo Mäkyselle mahdollisuuden uudenlaisten studiokokeilujen toteuttamiseen. Mitä esimerkiksi George Duke olisi tehnyt Madlibin biitistä? Tämä käänteinen ajattelutapa synnytti paljon hehkutusta keränneen LP:n Kind Soul joka julkaistiin vuonna 2007.
Nyt The Stance Brothers on palannut useamman 7"-sinkun ja Duktus-levyn julkaisun myötä myös keikoille uuden live-kokoonpanon kanssa.
