Trumpetisti, yhtyeenjohtaja ja säveltäjä Miles Davis'iä (1926 –1991) pidetään yhtenä modernin jazzmusiikin keskeisimmistä pioneereistä. Viisi vuosikymmentä kattavan aktiiviuransa ajan Davis oli suunnannäyttäjä, jonka kokoonpanot edustivat aina alan kovinta kärkeä ja uudistivat koko musiikinlajia.
Kalevi Louhivuori on kansainvälisesti arvostetuimpia ja tunnetuimpia suomalaistrumpetisteja. Kypsästä ja erottuvasta soundistaan tunnettu ja useasti palkittu muusikko on vuosien varrella vaikuttanut monipuolisesti eri genreissä sekä yhtyeenjohtajana, säveltäjänä ja soittajana.
