Born in the Black and Latino queer communities of Harlem during the 20th century, ballroom culture developed as a space for expression, resistance and celebration of identity. Through houses, categories and performance, ballroom affirms bodies, styles and narratives that have long been marginalised. Black Queer Futures Kiki Ball – Part 2 is part of this history, while projecting it into the present day in Paris. Hosted as part of the US Foundation's Black History Month Series, curated by Khalid McGhee, the ball creates a dialogue between the African-American heritage of the ballroom scene and the contemporary dynamics of queer communities in Europe. Hosted by Iconic Byron Keaton, in collaboration with commentator Vinii Revlon, two international figures from the ballroom scene, the event celebrates the transmission, creativity and futures of queer and Black communities in Paris, in a spirit of openness, respect and sharing....
