Il est venu les années mêmes de ses récompenses les plus prestigieuses, celles des Victoires du Jazz, en 2016, sacré « Révélation de l’année » puis en 2020, où il remporte la deuxième Victoire du Jazz de sa carrière dans la catégorie « Artiste instrumental » …L’idée de lui proposer une carte blanche est aussi prétexte à profiter de sa présence sur quelques jours de résidence, notamment pour les étudiants de l’IESM.Après son album Meva Festa dans lequel Laurent Coulondre s’est armé d’une section cuivre délirante, Laurent voulait maintenant explorer le monde des cordes. Il saisit l’invitation à cette Carte Blanche proposée par le Petit Duc pour explorer une version « augmentée » de son fameux trio « Michel on my mind » en y associant un quatuor à cordes. Ce dernier est issu de l’IESM qui est partenaire avec Le Petit Duc pour cette création. Il y aura sûrement plein de surprises lors de ce concert et vous pourrez apprécier des arrangements audacieux tantôt jazz, brésiliens mais aussi contemporains et même aux lisières de la musique classique.
