Since its formation in 2006, the NYSQ is a band that has developed a near-telepathic relationship having played together in a variety of settings. Conceptually, the NYSQ strives to develop its own language within the traditional vocabulary, performing well-known standard jazz repertoire, cleverly reconstructed to liberate the players with essentially a blank slate of classic and recognizable melodies. Mainly, this band swings!
