A graduate of Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, her imagination was captured by jazz she explored Sidney Bechet to Sonny Rollins. Now a seasoned veteran, the Jazz Journalists Association has voted Anat Clarinetist of the Year for the past nine consecutive years, and she has topped both the Critics and Readers Polls in the clarinet category in DownBeat magazine every year since 2011. Why? Because Anat plays beautifully and is compelling as the ultimate musical story-teller. Exposed to myriad forms of music, she was particularly taken with classic Brazilian choro. She has become a major exponent of it in her performances and recordings, both as a leader and sideperson.
