Battle of the Bands

This is the second annual “Battle of the Bands” between the Dillard Center for the Arts (Fort Lauderdale) and the New World School of the Arts (Miami) big bands, both of which have competed in the Essentially Ellington high school band competition held at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York under the direction of Wynton Marsalis. These two great jazz studies programs will display their mastery of the big band jazz idiom for a South Florida audience. Dillard HS is the reigning winner of the Essentially Ellington competition (2011 and 2012).

Proceeds from the concert go to both school jazz programs.
