Michael Mainieri is an award-winning jazz vibraphonist and composer, best known for his work with Steps Ahead, the incredible jazz/fusion group widely admired for its ambitious music.

In the 1980’s, advances in music technology took jazz in new directions, and Mainieri was among the first to grasp its potential by synthesising electronic sounds with the organic cool of the vibraphone to create something entirely fresh and new.

Mainieri has taken the vibraphone beyond its limits in a long and colourful jazz career that includes performances with Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Zappa and Joe Lovano.
