Towering Poppies is a jazz quintet based in New York City that performs the music of New Zealand saxophonist/composer Jasmine Lovell-Smith (MA student in Composition at Wesleyan). Together, they create evocative and tuneful contemporary music that is carefully crafted yet spontaneous. Performing alongside soprano saxophone extraordinaire will be Russell Moore on trumpet, Cat Toren on piano, Patrick Reid on bass and Kate Pittman on drums. They are celebrating the release of their debut CD, "Fortune Songs."
