Afro Celt Sound System is a live band like no other, and its reputation has been boosted by appearances on movie, television and video game soundtracks and by numerous DJ mixes. Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Sinéad O’Connor and other superstars looking for inspiration from world music have performed and recorded with the band.
The line-up taking the Huvila stage will include Gaelic rapper Griogair, Guinean kora virtuoso N’Faly Kouyaté and dhol drum master Johnny Kalsi, whom you may remember from the delightful Huvila gig in 2012 by Emmerson’s other band, The Imagined Village.
The evening starts off with what may be Estonia’s most promising world music talent, the lively Trad.Attack!

Elektroninen tanssimusiikki, länsiafrikkalaiset rytmit ja perinteinen kelttimusiikki säkkipilleineen sulautuvat saumattomaksi kokonaisuudeksi Afro Celt Sound Systemin käsissä. Simon Emmersonin vuonna 1995 perustama yhtye osoittaa, että maailmanmusiikin eri virtaukset voivat kohdatessaan muodostaa osiensa summaa isomman voiman.
Afro Celt Sound System on live-bändinä vertaansa vailla, ja se on kartuttanut mainettaan myös elokuva-, tv- ja pelisoundtrackeillä sekä lukemattomilla dj-mixeillä. Lukuisat maailmanmusiikista sytykkeitä hakeneet supertähdet kuten Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant ja Sinéad O’Connor ovat esiintyneet ja levyttäneet bändin kanssa.
Huvilan lavalle nousevassa kokoonpanossa on mukana muun muassa gaelinkielinen räppäri Griogair, guinealainen kora-virtuoosi N’Faly Kouyaté sekä dhol-rummun mestari Johnny Kalsi, joka muistetaan myös Emmersonin toisen yhtyeen, The Imagined Villagen, riemukkaalta Huvilan keikalta 2012.

Trad.Attack! aloittaa klo 19, Afro Celt Sound System klo 20.30Ovet avataan klo 17.30.
