But why Future Food Factory?

Free concerts are held at Musiikkitalo's terrace on summer afternoons from Thursday to Saturday, from 29 May until 2 August, starting at 5 pm. The concerts feature talented musicians from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, as well as other Finnish artists. Throughout the summer, the stage will host a diverse range of interesting artists from different genres: mainly pop music on Thursdays, jazz on Fridays. Additionally, the programme includes interesting performances from the fields of contemporary folk and classical music. The early summer Thursday afternoons are dedicated to the Radio Helsinki KESÄLIVE.
In case of rain, the concert will be held inside in the Musiikkitalo Restaurant.

Teosto-palkittu lyömäsoittaja Mikko Hassinen palaa jälkeen pienyhtyemusiikin pariin nuorekkaan ja taitavan yhtyeensä innoittamana.
Edellisen Helsingin Sanomilta viisi tähteä saaneen Espoo Big Band: Blood Red -levyn maalaama lavea ja kerroksellinen puhallinorkestraatio muuttuu Future Food Factoryn musiikissa intiimiksi ja fokusoituneeksi pienen kollektiivin värähtelyksi. Future Food Factory on levy, jolla sen säveltäjä Mikko Hassinen pyrkii kuvaamaan musiikillisesti omaa mutkikasta luontosuhdettaan. Musiikki on lähtökohtaisesti akustista ja hengittävää, mutta akustisuuden periaatteesta huolimatta levyllä on sähköisyyden vivahde. Moni kappale on jälkituotantovaiheessa saanut perinteisestä kvartettijazzista poikkeavia kerroksia. Äänitettyä materiaalia on muunneltu ja prosessoitu. Akustisesti alkanut levy muuttuu matkan varrella joksikin muuksi.
"Maalle muuttamisen jälkeen aloin kuljeskella päivittäin lähimetsissä. Forest Cycle -kappaleet syntyivät luontevasti, kun näin, miltä metsässä kiemurteleva hirvielänten polku ja sen halkova sammaloituva, lahoava puunrunko näyttivät".
Korostaakseen kahden sointimaailman kohtaamista levyn akustinen osuus päätettiin äänittää 100% livenä Hassisen harjoitushuoneella Helsingissä Kaapelitehtaalla.
"Yhtye levittäytyi stereomikrofoniparin ympärille ja pyrki soittamaan parhaassa mahdollisessa tasapainossa niin, että kaikki tulisivat hyvin kuuluville. Ennen levytystä harjoittelin vuoden pelkästään saadakseni rumpujen soinnin mahdollisimman pehmeäksi ja riittävän hiljaiseksi."
Musiikin tueksi Hassinen teki single-julkaisujen oheen kolme videota.
