Jazz duo Joonas Haavisto & Kestutis Vaiginis celebrate the release of their album Moon Bridge!
The duo's shared history began in the autumn of 2006 when Joonas participated in the international solo piano competition Jazz Improvizacija in Vilnius. After Joonas' successful performance, the organizers invited top Lithuanian jazz musicians to the evening jam session. The musical connection between Kestutis and Joonas was immediate, and since then, the friends have toured together as a duo, a quartet, and even with a chamber orchestra.
In October 2022, they decided to realize their shared dream and headed to the legendary Rainbow Studio in Oslo to record their debut album, Moon Bridge. The album is released by the Japanese label Eight Islands. Moon Bridge features compositions by both musicians as well as two of their arrangements of pieces by Wayne Shorter and Billy Strayhorn....

The duo's sound ranges from sacred spaces to wild torrents. Crystal-clear melodies combined with Baltic melancholy form the foundation for the dynamic dialogue between these two musicians.

Duon yhteinen historia sai alkunsa syksyllä 2006, kun Joonas osallistui Vilnassa järjestettyyn kansainväliseen soolopianokilpailuun Jazz Improvizacija. Kilpailun ratkettua suotuisasti Joonaksen kannalta olivat järjestäjät kutsuneet illan jameihin Liettuan eturivin jazzmuusikoita. Musiikillinen yhteys löytyi vaivatta Kestutiksen ja Joonaksen välille ja sieltä asti ystävykset ovat soittaneet kiertueita niin duona, kvartetin kuin kamariorkesterinkin kanssa.
Lokakuussa 2022 he päättivät toteuttaa yhteisen unelmansa ja lähtivät äänittämään debyyttilevyn Oslon legendaariselle Rainbow Studiolle. Levyn julkaisee japanilainen Eight Islands levy-yhtiö. Moon Bridge sisältää molempien muusikoiden sävellyksiä sekä kaksi heidän sovitustaan Wayne Shorterin ja Billy Strayhornin kappaleista.
Duon soundi vaihtelee sakraaleista tiloista villeihin ryöpytyksiin. Kristallin kirkkaat melodiat yhdistettyinä Baltian melankoliaan luovat pohjan tämän dynaamisen duon vuoropuhelulle.
