The programme consists mainly of brand-new big band arrangements of Mäkynen’s compositions. In addition to them, we will hear carefully chosen bits from his big band portfolio. The Finnish jazz folk know Teppo Mäkynen from the groups The Five Corners Quintet, Jo Stance and Teddy’s West Coasters, to name a few. He is also a sought-after record producer and DJ in the field of Finnish jazz.

Rumpali Teppo Mäkynen tunnetaan paitsi virtuoottisena rumpalina myös lahjakkaana säveltäjänä ja musiikkia eteenpäin vievänä visionäärinä. Kun UMO ja Mäkynen yhdistävät voimansa, luvassa on taatusti Mäkysen näköinen kokonaisuus.
Konsertin keskiössä ovat Mäkysen monipuolisesta sävellystuotannosta poimitut kappaleet, joihin on tehty tuoreet big band -sovitukset. Lisäksi konsertissa kuullaan Mäkysen big band -ohjelmiston kaanonista tarkoin valitsemia kappaleita, joissa rumpalin rullaavat kompit ja ilmiömäinen ride-soitto menevät taatusti yleisön jalan alle. Jännittävän lisämausteen konserttiin tuo Mäkysen käyttämä live-elektroniikka.
Teppo Mäkynen on tullut jazzyleisölle tutuksi muun muassa The Five Corners Quintet, Jo Stance ja Teddy’s West Coasters -yhtyeissä. Rumpujen soiton lisäksi Mäkynen toimii aktiivisesti tuottajana sekä DJ:nä suomalaisen jazzin kentällä.
Ennen konsertteja UMO järjestää Enemmän irti esityksestä -keskustelutilaisuudet, joissa kapellimestari Mikko Hassinen ja Teppo Mäkynen taustoittavat konserttia. Keskustelutilaisuudet järjestetään konserttipaikkojen ravintoloissa 45 minuuttia ennen konsertin alkua.
