UMO and KYN have compiled a new programme for the special atmosphere of All Saints’ Day including music from the likes of Anna-Mari Kähärä and Kaj Chydenius. The new arrangements written by Mikko Hassinen of pieces like “Aamulla varhain” and “Sinua, sinua rakastan” tune us in for memories, remembrance and longing.
KYN is an ambitious reformer of choir music. Finnish leading newspaper Helsingin Sanomat has accoladed KYN as one of the brightest stars in the Finnish choir sky and a trailblazer of jazz music. Some recent feathers KYN has collected in its cap include winning a Grand Prix prize and a special award for Outstanding Stage Performance in Berlin, and being selected as Choir of the Year. In March 2018, KYN released its ninth album, Outo kantele (Strange Kantele).
UMO is conducted by Kirmo Lintinen, KYN by Kaija Viitasalo.

Suomen big band -ylpeys UMO ja maailman kuudenneksi parhaaksi naiskuoroksi rankattu KYN jatkavat yhteistyötään kahdella konsertilla pyhäinpäivän alla. Kun tahot viimeksi kohtasivat, syntyi jotain aivan uutta.
”Luulin, että kuorolaulu ja jazz ovat kuin tuli ja vesi, mutta olin väärässä. Muutin mieleni, kun kuulin naiskuoro KYN:n ja jazzorkesteri UMOn yhteiskonsertin. Kiehtovinta konsertissa oli se, miten 50 naisen kuoro sai 16 miehen big bandin kuulostamaan jotenkin erilaiselta. UMO ja KYN ovat koonneet marraskuun alun konsertteihin uusitun ohjelmistokokonaisuuden, jossa kuullaan pyhäinpäivän tunnelmaan sopivaa musiikkia mm. Anna-Mari Kähärältä ja Kaj Chydeniukselta. Muistojen, muistelemisen ja kaipauksen äärelle vievät tätä konserttia varten Mikko Hassiselta tilatut sovitukset esimerkiksi kappaleista Aamulla varhain ja Sinua, sinua rakastan.
Naiskuoro KYN on kunnianhimoinen kuoromusiikin uudistaja. Helsingin Sanomat on tituleerannut KYN:ä yhdeksi Suomen kuorotaivaan kirkkaimmista tähdistä ja jazzmusiikin edelläkävijäksi. KYN:n viime vuoden meriittilistalle kuuluvat muun muassa Grand Prix -voitto ja erikoispalkinto erinomaisesta lavaesiintymisestä Berliinissä sekä valinta Vuoden kuoroksi. Maaliskuussa 2018 KYN julkaisi yhdeksännen albuminsa, Outo kantele.
Orkesteria johtaa Kirmo Lintinen, kuoroa johtaa musiikkineuvos Kaija Viitasalo.
