UMO plays Ellington, Strayhorn, Tsaikovski & Shakespeare at Savoy-teatteri

UMO's third lunch concert this autumn season fits the pre-Christmas time perfectly. On the menu will be, among other pieces, a no doubt memorable version Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker.  UMO will play Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn's take on the classic ballet, recorded in 1960. We will be in for Shakespearean treats too, as the programme includes pieces from the 1957 composition series Such Sweet Thunder.
The concert kicks off at noon. No entry fee.

UMOn syyskauden kolmas Savoyn lounaskonsertti sopii mainiosti joulunalusaikaan: ohjelmassa on Duke Ellingtonin ja Billy Strayhornin kiehtova ja taatusti omaperäinen näkemys Pjotr Tsaikovskin Pähkinänsärkijästä. Ellingtonin orkesteri julkaisi The Nutcracker Suite -levynsä vuonna 1960. Konserttiohjelmaa täydentävät otteet vuonna 1957 ilmestyneen Such Sweet Thunder –sarjan sävellyksistä, joiden aiheina ovat William Shakespearen näytelmät, niiden henkilöhahmot, tilanteet ja lausahdukset.
Konsertti pidetään Savoy-teatterin salissa klo 12-13 ja siihen on vapaa pääsy. Voit halutessasi nauttia lounaan Ravintola Prestossa joko ennen tai jälkeen konsertin, hinta alk. 10,20 €. Lounas ei ole pakollinen: voit osallistua pelkästään konserttiin.
