Purpose: To expose students within Huntsville City Schools to the jazz idiom, which will encourage and promote the artistic development of the youth of the metro-Huntsville area.

Format: The clinic will be fully interactive and engaging for students. Mr. Carter will demonstrate jazz concepts including, but not limited to, articulation, style, and improvisation. Students will be encouraged to play along with Mr. Carter throughout his presentation. Target Audience: The clinic will be for the students of Huntsville City Schools, primarily Columbia High School, Lee High School, and Mae Jemison High School.

Impact/Anticipated Outcome: As a result of students attending the Ronald Carter Clinic and Concert, students will have a greater understanding of jazz performance, and will see and hear the application of the concepts presented by Mr. Carter. Educators that attend the clinic will gain insight on teaching techniques and concepts related to jazz education.
