Open Source Trio are three young musicians from Bulgaria, Curaçao and Germany. Momchil Atanasoff (piano), Rayleymon Janga (bass) and Juri Schewe (drums) come from different musical backgrounds and meet in the common ground of improvisation. The bands compositions are inf luenced by jazz, classical music and bulgarian folklore. Modern Scandinavian sounds fuse with funk and latin rhythms and electronic sound aesthetics.
Founded in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 2010, the band played several shows in Bulgaria, Germany and the Netherlands, including an appearance at the prestigious North Sea Jazz Round Town festival. The band members now live and tour in different countries and come together regularly for creative working phases. The last one was held in Bulgaria, during which the trio wrote new compositions, played shows and recorded an album at the “Perfect Records Studio” in Sofia....

The mixes are done by composer and producer Christian “Praeco” Linke, an old friend and musical companion of drummer Juri, who nowadays lives and works in Los Angeles. In December 2013 the video “Mirage” has been released online as an outlook to the album and was subsequently featured as “Video of the day” on allaboutjazz.com. The album was released in early 2014 and is
currently being presented on an extensive European tour.
