Hollanda’da yaşayan Alman flütçü Mark Alban Lotz 1963 Tubingen doğumlu. Thailand, Uganda ve Almanya’da büyümüş. Amsterdam’da “School of Arts”daki eğitiminden sonra birlikte çalıştığı isimler arasında Hubert Laws, Buddy Colette, Dave Valentin, Lew Tabackin, Art Webb, Ellery Eskelin gibi sanatçılar yer alıyor. Müzikal çalışmaları içinde konserler ve kayıtlar dışında, eğitimcilik de yer alıyor. Afro Cuban ve folklorik etkileşimlere çok açık olan sanatçı aynı zamanda “Music: World Series” konser ve festival organizasyonu şiketinin de ortakları arasında bulunuyor. Dünyanın pek çok yerinde sahne alıyor. Bu gece daha önce pek çok kereler İstanbul, Ankara ve İzmir’de festival ve konserlerde birlikte sahne almış olduğu müzisyenler ile bu gece Nardis sahnesinde olacaklar....

German born flutist Mark Alban Lotz was born in 1963 in Tubingen and now resides in Holland. He spent his childhood in Thailand, Uganda and Germany. After studying in the ”School of Arts” he went on to study with Hubert Laws, Buddy Colette, Dave Valentin, Lew Tabackin, Art Webb and Ellery Eskelin. While being a full time performer and a recording artist he’s also an educator as well. He co-owns the concert and festival organisation company ”Music: World Series”. Having performed all over the world he has performed in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir before with tonight’s other musicians Sibel Köse and Kamil Erdem.
Lotz, Mark (Alban), flutist, piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute, PVC contra bass flute, Indian bamboo flutes, flotophon, prepared flute; b. Tubingen, Germany 12 June 1963. Mark grew up in Thailand, Uganda and Germany.
He started playing the flute at seventeen and ended up studying both jazz and classical/ contemporary music at the Amsterdam ‘School of Arts’ under Ferdinand Povel and Jos Zwaanenburg. In 1997/1998 Mark studied in the U.S. with Hubert Laws, Buddy Colette, Dave Valentin, Lew Tabakin, Art Webb, Ellery Eskelin, Steve Kujala, Mahanda Ken McIntyre, Bobby Watson, Pedro Eustache and James Newton. Mark is finalist of the 1989 Karlovy Vary Jazz Competition and price winner of the 1990/1992 Middelsee Jazz Festival Competition.
Mark’s professional activities include producing, composing, teaching and performing in musical settings ranging from solo concerts to big ensembles in jazz and world music settings. With his interpretations of Afro Cuban religious folklore Mark gained international attention. He is part of the “Music: World Series” concert/festival organization. Through the years Mark has worked with musicians from all over the globe, literally from A(rmenia) to Z(ambia).
