Ajugada is a quartet formed by the singer Antonella Vitale, the guitarist Giulia Salsone, the multi-instrumentalist Danielle Di Majo (alto saxophone, soprano and transverse flute) and the pianist Gaia Possenti.
Musicians known on the Roman and national scene, joined in a chamber music ensemble, being without bass and drums and in November 2018 their first album “”Hand Luggage”” was released for Filibusta Records with guests Juan Carlos Albelo Zamora on the harmonica and mouth, Neney Santos on percussion and Stefano Isola on electronic interventions. “”The songs are generally original by the four artists, which are accompanied by re-readings of pieces of modern extraction, such as Kenny Wheeler’s Kind of Folk and João Donato’s A Rã, which, however, seem written specifically for their skills: the piano by Gaia Possenti plays with Danielle Di Majo, who, above all on the alto saxophone, demonstrates an excellent skill, while Antonella Vitale’s voice is expressed in a wide range of vibrations, from scat to lyricism of the last track, and Giulia Salsone’s guitar embroiders for her part the melodies of her friends. “”

“”La Vitale – one could say – is an instrument like any other, nothing more nothing less, and so his voice, often used as an instrument, contributes decisively to the particular sound of the combo, which is not affected by the lack of a traditional rhythmic section made up of drums and double bass. (..) “”
“”The four artists are to be understood as a result of an idem to feel fully declined through their instrumental and expressive skills. Thus Gaia Possenti, of clear classical training, shows off a pianism that is now material, now absolutely ethereal, capable of taking convincing and long solos. both to weave a sonorous fabric on which Danielle Di Majo’s interventions are grafted, which above all on the alto sax shows off a vigorous and personal sound and Giulia Salsone technically well-trained guitarist with a strong expressiveness. “”
