The fourth element is a … fourth. Ilenia Appicciafuoco and the group’s voice, the washboard player, and, above all, the author of the two unreleased songs.

So the English magazine The Jazz Rag Magazine and the artistic director of the Birmingham jazz festival, Jim Simpson, described the sound of Pepper and The Jellies in 2015, one year after the birth of this all-Italian quartet.

After performing in numerous Italian and foreign festivals and festivals, Pepper and The Jellies present THE STUFF IS HERE.

The album is a tribute to the music of the 1920s and 1930s, to the blues and swing of that particular period in American history. A good man is hard to find is from 1917, while Comes Love is the most recent, from 1939. It is therefore necessary to record a basic job that is just as demanding as that of the arrangement and recording.

Traditional jazz yes, but reinterpreted according to a personal vision, always far from any imitation, by musicians who never forget to live in the present or their origins. Not surprisingly, the box graphics bring us back to Italian simplicity and provinciality.

The music is polite and pleasant with the voice of Ilenia who … lights the fire, both for sensuality and for that anger that characterized the blues-singers of that period. Who knows the story, you know what we are referring to.
