While Thelonious Monk and Herbie Nichols are fundamental reference points for the trio that has been playing the fantastic music of these extraordinary masters for years. Then a concert with the best of the trioâs repertoire, a sort of âBEST OFâ of the group!
THE MUSICIANS
Riccardo Fassi is one of the most interesting pianists of Italian jazz and has been working for years in various formations; with the TANKIO BAND (his 11-piece orchestra more than once voted among the best Italian jazz ensembles in the annual referendum organized by the Musica Jazz magazine) with Gary Smulyan, Adam Nussbaum, Bill Elgart, Tim Berne, Butch Morris, Ray Anderson ⌠.and many others.
Steve Cantarano is one of the most talented double bass players in Italian jazz and has played with Riccardo in various projects since the 90s. He has recorded various records for the Tankio Band (Plays Eric Dolphy- 7 Pieces For Large Ensemble- TB With Fabio Morgera- The Return Of Fat Chicken Plays Zappa), 2 CDs with Riccardo Fassi and Alex Sipiagin and Belleville with Steve Lacy. In addition, Steve has collaborated with many Italian and foreign musicians including: Enrico Pieranunzi, Maurizio Giammarco, Massimo Urbani, Paolo Fresu, Ettore Fioravanti, Eddie Palermo, Pietro Tonolo, Mike Melillo, Dusko Gojkovic, Etta Cameron, Donald Harrison, Eddie Wied, John Ramsay, Bob Gullotti, Idris Muhammad, Gary Bartz, George Garzone , Gary Smulyan, Bryan Carrott, Lee Konitz, Heddie Henderson, Mike Goodrick, Rick Margitza, Jesse Davis
Pietro Iodice is one of the strongest drummers in Italian jazz, with a great experience with orchestras and big bands. He has been playing since 1996 with the Tankio Band, with whom he recorded âSerial Killer, Seven Pieces For Large Ensemble, and the recentâ Tankio Band Meets Fabio Morgera âandâ Tankio Band Plays Zappa â The Return Of Fat Chicken â. Founder of the Big Band âCorvini- Iodice Roma Jazz Ensembleâ, which later became the permanent orchestra of the âP.D.M.J.E.â Auditorium in Rome. Pietro played with Art Farmer, Jimmy Woody, Marcello Rosa, Benny Golson, Rick Margitza, John Patitucci, Jerry Bergonzi, Giorgio Rosciglione, Harvie Swartz, Jim Snidero, Aaron Graves, Scott Robinson, Dick Oatts, Steve Turre â, Phil Woods, Ralph Moore, Bob Mover, Cedar Walton, Paul MC Candless, Shawn Montero, Joey Calderazzo, Tony Scott, Ronnie Cuber .
