Trumpeter TOM KIRKPATRICK (Italy) has worked and performed with Chet Baker, Harold Mabern, Billy Higgins, Max Roach, George Coleman to name just a few. After many years in New York and on tour in the U.S., Japan and Europe, and after being referenced by Billy Higgins to manager Aberto Alberti, Thomas began to perform many concerts in Italy and Europe. Thomas is well known as a teacher and he is also an uncommon musician in the world jazz scene because, despite being linked to the bebop language of Charlie Parker, Kenny Dorham and Dizzy Gillespie, he is able to show his talent even when he engages with standards and with the ballads. Pianist/flutist/singer and inventive composer GAEA SCHELL (San Francisco, CA) is known among her peers for swinging eighth notes, subtle phrasing and contemplative writing.
A native of Canada and McGill University graduate, Gaea has shared the stage with Nancy King, John Stowell, Albert ‘Tootie’ Heath, Clare Fischer Big Band, Bobby Watson, Vince Lateano, and Gilbert Castellanos (member of the Clayton/Hamilton Orchestra) among many others. Accomplished and versatile, she, as drummer Albert ‘Tootie’ Heath has said, “plays the heck out of the piano with them small hands”.
Bassist GIORGIO ROSCIGLIONE (Italy) studied (double bass) at the Bellini Conservatory in Palermo and the Conservatory of Pescara. He recorded soundtracks with Ennio Morricone, Armando Trovaioli, Piero Piccioni, Nino Rota. He has played the festivals of Pescara, Pergamo, Alassio, Bologna, Agrigento, and has performed/recorded with Benny Golson, Kenny Barron, Mulgrew Miller, Frank Rosolino, Kenny Clarke, Toots Thielemans, Freddie Hubbard, Jason Marsalis, among many, many others. He is a professor of double bass technique at the best schools in the country; as the University of Music of Rome.
This is a special performance, and will include the music of Bill Evans, Benny Golson, Thelonious Monk, Irving Berlin, vocals à la Diana Krall, and much more!
