The “”Chansonnier”” project was born in early 2015 to recover and enhance that precious cultural resource made up of the repertoire of the French “”chansons”” in vogue from the 1940s to the 1970s, many of which, due to their beauty and intensity, in the time they have become famous in Italy and in the world. It starts with Charles Trenet – with whom the original “”chanson”” (the so-called “”chanson canaille”” which was born in 1700) is dressed in modernity. We then retrace the evolutionary stages of this fascinating musical genre passing through the poignant and unforgettable “”chansons”” of Edith Piaf, Juliette Greco, Françoise Hardy, Dalida, Sacha Distel. Carefree songs but often also permeated with sadness and pain, when we talk about misery, prostitution or violence in the Nazi lands, where in 1943 Trenet with Édith Piaf had gone to sing for the French deported. Letting yourself be enraptured by these masterpieces, as the musicians who join the project have been kidnapped, means falling in love and getting lost....

Raquel Silva Joly – already known for some time to the international public for being one of the most passionate modern interpreters of bossa nova – offers his own customized arrangements for voice and guitar of some of the most significant songs of this enthralling repertoire, mostly recorded in his latest CD “”La chanson française 1940 – 1980″” (December 2019). Raquel is accompanied by Claudio Recchia’s accordion and Giuseppe Arnetta’s drums.
