JAZZ FESTIVAL POSTPONES BIG BAND BASH, SETS NEW VALENTINE’S SHOW

Giving consideration to ongoing concerns with respect to the Coronavirus, The Amelia Island Jazz Festival has moved its Valentine’s Big Band Bash to May 1, to be held at the Omni Resorts Amelia Island Plantation. In announcing the change AIJF Artistic Director Les DeMerle said “our Board Of Directors feels that most guests will be more comfortable attending such a large event later in the Spring.”

In place of the Big Band Bash, the Festival will celebrate Valentine's Day with a smaller event, the “Love Notes Valentine Show” on Saturday, February 13, 7:00 PM, at Story & Song Bookstore Bistro, 1430 Park Avenue in Fernandina Beach. This intimate show will feature The Dynamic Les DeMerle Band with Bonnie Eisele - vocals, Doug Matthews - piano, DeMerle - drums, and Special Guest multi-instrumentalist Dr. Bill Prince - sax, trumpet, clarinet and flute. Program highlights will focus on romantic tunes, including Eisele’s lush interpretations of songs like “My Funny Valentine,” “When I Fall In Love,” and “Unforgettable,” along with the band’s exciting jazz arrangements. “We plan to create a classic cabaret feeling to make you fall in love all over again, right here at Story and Song Bookstore Bistro,” DeMerle added....

Seating will be limited for the in person show, and social distancing will be in effect; plus, the event will be live streamed. Tickets for the live performance are $40 per person and include Champagne and Chocolate. Tickets for the live stream will be $10. Both can be purchased at www.ameliaislandjazzfestival.com. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Amelia Island Jazz Festival Scholarships, which are given annually to promising High School jazz musicians.
