Brenda Kelly studied voice with world renowned tenor, the late Dr. William Brown. She engages in a style all her own. Brenda possesses a surprising mesh of contrasting styles. She is able to weave a standard jazz style with remnants of gospel, and a subtle hint of R&B. Her style is reminiscent of Fitzgerald and Freelon. Her voice is calming, but is subliminally textured with a brocade design.

Brenda arranged and performed music compositions for the inaugural ceremonies of two City Council Presidents. In an eclectic performance at the 2010 Jacksonville Jazz Festival, Brenda wowed the audience with her captivating renditions of jazz and blues. Because of her musical prowess, Brenda was a judge for the Jacksonville Jazz Festival's Generation Next Youth Talent Competition, in 2010, 2011, and 2012 She continually works towards keeping jazz alive by supporting and mentoring young jazz artists.
