Currently, a world class musician, clinician, Professor of Music at Florida A & M University and founder of Tribal Records, It was written, years ago by Tom Terrell that, "Longineu Parsons" as a very yound man, played in “all the cut ’em up-shoot ’em up joints in Alabama, Georgia and South Florida.” A mutant of Lee Morgan! That he recorded a self-titled album that few outside of the Parisian underground heard until 1999, when a London record collector sent a copy to groove merchant label Ubiquity. The rest is jazz history!
Longineu is a highly sought after, international star having performed in more than thirty countries. he is also founder of Tribal Disorder and “Tribal Records, a record label of jazz funk soul world music. Here's the mission statement of Tribaldisorder ...a mission that is very similar to that of Jazzland: to produce and disseminate music by lesser known artists who are as good or better than the stars. This company will be eclectic in terms of genres but will not indulge in music, which is purely commercial. We will produce music of high character and emphasis will be on music with strong statements either instrumentally or with lyrics. In other words: music as art, not cheap entertainment for the masses.
"To have it come out like this, Longineu says ..to do well in the charts, all the things I'm reading in the reviews, it’s a vindication,” Parsons admits. “It’s like OK, it was what I thought it was. I can actually close the book on that chapter and go on to where I am now.” Parsons’ next project will reflect where his “at” is. He goes on to say, ...“my mission in music and life is this: to bring a comprehensive way of looking at music to people who want to listen.” Longineu Parsons contribution is a conversion of the actual texture of American life, into first-rate, universally appealing music.
