Vance Music is pleased to announce that our next workshop will be held on Saturday, July 21st! Rock violinist Joe Deninzon is coming to Wichita to work with our students.

Joe earned his Bachelor degrees in Violin Performance & Jazz Violin at Indiana University, and his Master’s degree in Jazz/Commercial Violin from The Manhattan School of Music. Joe has performed with world-renowned artists including Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson, and Les Paul. His original compositions won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and have been heard on CMT, MTV-VH1, Comedy Central, National Geographic, the Travel Channel, the History Channel, among other places. This summer Joe will be in Kansas teaching at Mark Wood’s Rock Orchestra Camp. We are very excited that our students will get the privilege of working with such an accomplished musician!...

Joe will teach two hour-long workshops and give an hour-long concert. The two workshops will focus on blues, funk, and rock improvisation. Both workshops will be hands-on, so we highly encourage students to bring their instruments, folding music stands, paper, and pencils.

The events will be held in the First Baptist Church Chapel. The first workshop will begin at 5pm, and is open only to Vance Music students and parents.

The second workshop is open to the public, and will begin at 6:45pm. This will be followed by a short break and the concert at 8pm. After the concert, CDs will be available for purchase, and Joe will again sign autographs.

Prices charged to the public will be $15 for the workshop, $15 for the concert, or $25 for both the workshop and concert. Group rates will be available for those who call in advance. Vance Music students can get into all events for $20. The first parent can get into all events for $5; the second parent can get into all events for $10.
