The 5th Annual Women in Jazz Jam Festival Returns March 13-14
With Shows Downtown and in West Knoxville
Dust off your dancing shoes now, because the Women in Jazz Jam Festival Band returns to the Knoxville Museum of Art’s Alive After Five Concert Series on FRIDAY, MARCH 13, with a performance at 6 p.m. Be sure to arrive early, as this show is well attended. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students or members, and free for ages 17 and under.
Music continues at 10 a.m. on SATURDAY, MARCH 14, with an hour of free live performances by Kelle Jolly, Will Boyd & WJJF Friends on WDVX’s Kidstuff, located in the Knoxville Visitor Center. WJJF concert headliner, Akua Dixon, will perform at 12 p.m. on the WDVX Blue Plate Special. ...

Further down Gay Street, at Maple Hall Lounge, a free poetry open mic event hosted by Rhea Sunshine & The Fifth Woman, will take place from 2-3 p.m.
NEW THIS YEAR, is the headliner evening concert being held at JEWELRY TELEVISION in WEST KNOXVILLE. VIP TICKETS are available for $50, which includes a catered pre-show party at JTV’s elegant rooftop bar at 4p.m. General Admission tickets are $25. Free for ages 17 and under.
The evening concert will be held in JTV’s well-appointed auditorium from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Performers include pianist NANCY WESTMORELAND, based in Chattanooga, TN. Knoxville’s KUKULY AND THE GYPSY FUEGO, an acoustic ensemble, plays Hot Jazz inspired by the music of legendary French Gypsy guitarist, Django Reinhardt, and jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli.
Headliner, AKUA DIXON, is a jazz cellist, composer, and bandleader, based in New York City. Her music has been described as “stirring and spiritual.” She greatly impresses “for the sheer quality of the musicianship and pushing of the jazz envelope.”
