Main and oldest Portuguese jazz club, located in Lisbon.Excellent atmosphere!
The Hot Club de Portugal was founded in 1948 by Luis Villas-Boas (regarded as the father of jazz in Portugal), following an homonimous radio programme started in November 1945.
Since then the Hot Club has been the major jazz club in Portugal, hosting major jam-sessions and musicians such as Count Basie, Bill Coleman, Dexter Gordon, Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Freddie Hubbard, Max Roach and Pat Metheny.
OPEN FROM 10pm - 2am
CONCERTS at 11pm and 12:30am
JAM SESSIONS, when no concerts anounced
CLOSED SUNDAYS and MONDAYS
Directions: If you're in Av Liberdade coming from Rossio, Praça da Alegria is a square on 3rd turning on the left. Not that easy to find but well worth it!
