On Monday, 18 June 2018 (8-11 pm) the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation will hold Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and a jazz celebration in the ballroom of Little Rock's historic Capital Hotel. The first hour of this unique and historic event will be devoted to honoring the eight 2018 inductees into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame: Bob Boyd, Brian Brown, Red Holloway, Rose Marie McCoy, Snub Mosley, Nan Maureen Renaud, George Ryan, Henry Shead. After the induction ceremony a jazz celebration will feature performances by special guest artists (some of whom have been or will be inducted into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame) with a combo including 2014 Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame inductee Joe Vick (upright bass), Julia Buckingham (keys), Sim Flora (trombone, flute), and Bryan Withers (drums). The admission fee for the induction ceremony and jazz celebration is only $20 (cash/check at the door) but larger donations are encouraged. The fee is waived (and table seating reserved) for any current/former/new Foundation member who submits 2018-2019 dues ($20 payable 1 July 2018) by 1 June 2018; a new membership application should be submitted by anyone who has not done so since 2014. Event proceeds, dues, and donations are used to defray expenses associated with Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame inductions (held in even-numbered years) and ongoing educational activities sponsored by the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation. SPECIAL NOTE TO 2017-2018 AJHF MEMBERS: The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation will hold its 2017-2018 annual meeting over dinner in the Capital Hotel's Cherokee Parlor on Monday, 18 June 2018 (6-8 pm). The meeting (required for officers and directors, open to all 2017-2018 members in good standing) will include election of the 2018-2019 board. Any member planning to attend must make a reservation with AJHF Secretary Alita Mantels (501.661.1604) by 1 June 2018.
