Fans of straight-up jazz and standards will appreciate this line-up of accomplished performers at The Afterthought's Monday Jazz Night on 15 July 2013 (8-11 pm, $5 cover): saxophonist John Bush, pianist Chris Parker, bassist Bill Huntington, percussionist Brian Withers, vocalist Kelley Hurt. (The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation, which sponsors and maintains the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame, will hold a dinner meeting for its 2013-2014 board members at 6:30 pm in the club's private dining room and adjourn in time to enjoy jazz beginning at 8 pm.)

The only Little Rock venue to present live jazz continuously (at least once a week) since the 1970s, The Afterthought and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building (once the Pulaski Heights town hall)listed on the National Register of Historic Places and located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood...
