Monday Jazz: Julia Buckingham Group at Afterthought Bistro and Bar

Each week a diverse, multigenerational audience enjoys Monday Jazz (8-11 pm, $5 cover charge by venue) at The Afterthought, where other accomplished jazz musicians are often invited to sit in with featured performers. The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation (which sponsors and maintains the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame) holds its weekly meet-and-greet during Monday Jazz at The Afterthought because it is the only Little Rock venue which has presented live jazz continuously - at least once a week - since the 1970s. (That distinction earned the iconic club a place on the map in the first print edition of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Music, published in September 2013 by the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.) Located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Afterthought and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building which served as the town hall for Pulaski Heights before its 1916 annexation by Little Rock.
