Jazz by MUSED - Artistry in the Rock Fundraiser at Afterthought Bistro and Bar

Instead of its usual Monday Jazz on 21 April 2014, The Afterthought will host two shows (7:30 pm and 9:30 pm) featuring accomplished vocalist Dr. I. J. Routen with MUSED: Walter Henderson (trumpet, flugelhorn), Gerald Johnson (sax), Chris Parker (keys), David Higginbotham (upright bass), Bryan Withers (drums). The cover charge ($10) for each show will benefit a scholarship fund for Little Rock School District graduating seniors planning to major in music. All other "Artistry in the Rock" exhibitions, performances, and events (designed to showcase LRSD students' talent in the visual and performing arts) will be held at Little Rock's Clear Channel Metroplex (10800 Colonel Glenn Road) Wednesday-Friday, 23-25 April 2014. From 10 am until 2 pm, there will be free exhibitions of visual art by preK-12 students as well as solo and group performances of music (vocal and instrumental), dance, and drama. From 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm on Friday, 25 April there will be an adults-only reception (with heavy hors d'oeuvres) and silent auction of art by LRSD staff and students; music will be provided by JazzRUS, led by Dr. Danny Fletcher (Secondary Fine Arts Coordinator for the Little Rock School District). Proceeds from the silent auction benefit the Dr. Morris Holmes Artistry Scholarship Fund.
